The sector of social and environmental action of the Cretan Basketball Teams Union “EKASKPLUS+” has been invited to participate in the Annual Meeting of the “Sport for Climate Action” signatories, which is going to be held on September 27th by the United Nations. Although the Annual Meeting will be organised virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic, its significance still remains high as Climate Change is at the centre of the global attention more than ever before.
The objective of the Meeting is to set out the strategy going forward to deliver on objectives of the Framework. The meeting agenda will be split in three key parts:
1) S4CA Ambition: Towards high-ambition targets,
2) Fit for purpose structure to accelerate action and
3) Aligning communication with 1.5C-degree world
Greek Basketball and generally Greek sports participate through EKASK in the formulation of the new global sporting agenda, according to which sports has the capacity to extend its power out of the courts in order to make a better world. EKASKPLUS+ will be represented by the board member Mr Anifadakis Apostolos, and the scientific assistant of EKASK Mr Stagakis Zacharias.
